Dalhousie Cantonment Board is responsible for overall sanitation of the Cantonment such as 100% door to door collection of garbage from households and its disposal as per Municipal Solid Waste Management and handling Rules 2016, cleaning of drains, sweeping of the area, cleaning of Public Toilets and urinals, public roads & various public places. In order to provide a clean and safe environment, Color coded dustbins (Blue and Green) are placed at suitable locations in the commercial area and waste is collected daily from there for its further disposal. Dalhousie Cantonment is providing sanitation services to both civil and military areas. Total 60 numbers of permanent Staff as well as outsourced Staff is held for providing the sanitation services. Dalhousie Cantonment Board is implementing guidelines issued by the Ministry of Urban Development under Swachh Bharat Mission from time to time. Regular cleaning drives with public participation are being encouraged. Dalhousie Cantonment was ranked 14th Cleanest Cantonment across 62 Cantonments in India during Swachh Survekshan 2018,10प Rank in 2019 and 09th Rank in 2020. (survey conducted by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India) It has been also awarded the “Best Cantonment In Solid Waste Management ” Award in 2019 Swachh Survekshan. Dalhousie Cantonment Board was declared ODF wef 2017 to 2020. During the month of November 2020. It is Declared as ODF+ certified city as well as also one star rating certified city in Garbage free city.
